ABSTRACT

Andrographolide is an anti-anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, anti-viral, immunostimulatory,anti-hyperglycemic, and anti-oxidant agent. High performance liquid chromatographic(HPLC) and high performance thin layer chromatographic (HPTLC) methods for quantitativedetermination of andrographolide were developed and validated. The methods showed satisfactorylinearity, precision, good recovery and appropriate limits of detection (LOD) and quantification(LOQ). The content of andrographolide was determined and the results obtained by HPLCand HPTLC methods were in good agreement. The methods developed are suitable for the qualitycontrol applications in Andrographis paniculata plant, extracts and dosage forms.

Keywords: Andrographolide; Andrographis paniculata; dosage forms; HPLC; HPTLC.
